NFL : 2* SEATTLE
This is definitely the stinker playoff game. Both teams won their final 2 games to secure the post-season births as well as a 9-7 division title record as far as Seattle was concerned. There is some dissension in the ranks though as in the “no team in I” category. Shaun Alexander finished the regular season a yard behind Curtis Martin and was livid that Mike Holmgren called for a QB sneak at the 1 YL against Atlanta last weekend.
Alexander basically called his coach a back-stabber but has also said he’s ready to play this weekend. The Rams were 2-6 SU/ATS on the road this season (including the win here in October) and today they will be getting a dose of Seattle winter as the temps will be in the low-40’s with some rain/show showers possible.
No 8-8 team has ever won a playoff game but where it counts the Hawks dropped 10 of their last 12 ATS and were 1-7 ATS at Qwest. The teams OL gave up a combined 84 sacks this season but both offenses could cook when needed.
This game just may come down to who can protect the ball better. STL allowed 39 TO against 15 takeaways while Seattle was a +8 for the regular season. The Hawks defense could get a boost today as DE Grant Wistrom may come back for this game.
